An awakening of myself and the world we live in has contributed to my ongoing curiosity and the significance of my journey for this blog.  I have been working in the fashion industry for several years most recently as a fashion stylist.  My love and passion for the art and design of fashion will never go away, but the more aware I become the more truthful I have to be in recognizing the affect it has on a global scale.

The fashion industry is notorious for pushing over consumption, producing an embarrassing amount of chemicals for fibers and textiles, farming and killing of innocent animals, and using offshore manufacturing facilities that ultimately exploit workers with poor conditions and wages.

The Walmart affect has brainwashed the masses and now we expect low prices for everyday items from electronics to clothing.  The other companies cannot compete and so they feel forced to run their operations over seas, reducing their cost, in return lowering the cost to the consumer.  They are trying to stay competitive within this twisted fate of how we are suppose to be operating business.  It is just really exasperating the problem.  The average consumer either doesn’t know this, or like myself was stuck in a bit of a consumer haze by relying on these low cost items….not questioning anything.

Now that I am aware of the direct effect I have on our planet, and realizing there are mindful choices, I must adhere to making those thoughtful, ethical decisions.  Being in the fashion industry and always having an intense love for it, I am naturally drawn to design of all sorts.  I pull influences internationally, having a true appreciation for global aesthetic.  The romantic from Paris, the bold and eclectic from New York, the sexy from Milan the ease and comfort of California and the classic and conservative of Toronto.

My intention is to have integrity behind what I do.  To be passionate, compassionate and aware, to combine my passions of beauty, design, health and love for the earth, bringing a harmonious balance.  I think I might have been scared that eco-conscious meant under stylized looking designed clothing and that organic food is too expensive.  Through the little digging I have done….I’ve been proven wrong.  And I couldn’t be happier.  I can be stylish, eat healthy, use effective products all with feeling good about being kind to nature.

I suppose I have always had an interest in healthy living, becoming vegetarian when I was 14, trying to eat as much natural and organic as I am disciplined.  It’s not easy right?  Well, the more and more I find out about what I eat, drink, wear and  use, the more I am convinced it’s easier to make the right choice.  To be conscious and aware of our bodies, the environment and humanity as a whole.

And there we are.  I will share what I am learning and feature companies that I think are promoting a higher standard of living.  I am by no way advocating consumerism, just giving the reader options for when you do need to make a purchase or two.  This blog is to show that we do have better options for how we choose to spend our money.

Thank you for being a part of the journey.

    Hey Doll!
Finally got a chance to read your blog, and I love it. I am just starting mine….still too shy to share it! Ridiculous, right?
Today I have my first meeting with one of the founders of Bullfrog Power. I am doing the pilot for my show, featuring them. So excited to talk to this guy, he is a visionary!
Hope you are well and enjoying the summer.
